Thanks to our amazing supporters – YOU! – we’re in great position to start breaking ground in 2016 with the Auburn Bike Park! So, what’s the status?
- We’ve fundraised an astonishing $137,000 – including $50,400 through grants and fundraisers, and Placer County recently donated $87,000 in Park Mitigation Funds! Thank YOU for making that happen.
- Auburn Area Recreation and Parks District (ARD) – our awesome project sponsor – is wrapping up the required environmental review. Once complete, the plan will go to the ARD Board for a final vote. Note this part of the process has lots of “hoops” to jump through because the location of the bike park sits on US Bureau of Reclamation land.
- The environmental review should wrap up in the winter of 2016, positioning us to break ground by Spring 2016.
We have many project sponsors to thank already—Auburn Alehouse, United Auburn Indian Community, Union Pacific, Specialized Bikes, and the Folsom Auburn Trail Riders Action Coalition, just to name a few. And EVERY bike shop in Auburn has been a partner in this effort and we deeply appreciate their support: Atown Bikes, Auburn Bike Company, Bicycle Emporium, and Victory Velo (and the staff of the former Auburn Bikeworks).
This April we’ll be coming up on 4 years since we first raised the idea of building a bike park with ARD. And while it seems like a long time in the making, nearby Bijou and Stafford Bike Parks took just as long. So, thanks for hanging in there with us, we’re almost there!
