Auburn Bike Park Debate Heats Up – Equestrians Still Fighting

Our little community park is getting a lot of attention thanks to some neighbors and several equestrians who continue to try to kill the project. Equestrians are mobilizing against the bike park, as on can see from the Facebook post below by ACE – Action Coalition for Equestrians. Why would they try to stop the bike park on a property that ARD manages and has every right to develop for the benefit of kids and families of Auburn? Bike Park Happenin’s – March 2015

It’s been a while since our last update but things are humming along nicely for the Auburn Bike Park! Our project sponsor – Auburn Recreation District (ARD) – is wrapping up the required environmental reviews for the project. Once done, these will go out for public comment (likely this May 2015) and a final vote soon follows in late June. Once finalized, we expect to be able to break ground possibly as early as this fall! Auburn Bike Park Concept Design

Auburn Bike Park Concept Design is here! The Auburn Recreation District (ARD),  International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA) Trail Solutions, Randy Spangler (world renowned bike park and trail designer and Auburn local), and the Auburn Bike Park Committee collaborated to develop the concept design for the bike park. The park will be built in two phases. Ride & Try Mountain Bike Event – Saturday, October 12 – Deer Creek Hills

Murieta Trail Stewardship is hosting a "Ride & Try" mountain bike event this Saturday, October 12 at Deer Creek Hills in Latrobe, CA from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Sacramento Valley Conservancy, Folsom Auburn Trail Riders Action Coalition (FATRAC), the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) and Murieta Trail Stewardship have partnered to bring this great event to our region. Auburn Bike Park Receives $5,000 Grant from United Auburn Indian Community (UAIC)

The United Auburn Indian Community (UAIC) recently awarded the Auburn Bike Park Committee $5,000 to help build the Auburn Bike Park. Free Bike Handling & Technical Skills Clinics

Full Speed Training is hosting a series of free bike cyclocross handling and technical skills clinics during the months of October and November. The clinics will be held on the Saturdays of October 5, October 19, November 02 and November 16, from 9:30 am - 11:00 am at the Full Speed Training facility located at 13122 Lincoln Way in Auburn, California. Tahoe Fat Tire Festival Tour de Squaw Poker Ride – Sun September 15, 2013

The Food Truck Fiesta inaugural event on Aug 23rd was a huge success. Rancho Murieta Pump Track – Now Open!

Congratulations to Mark Pecotich and the Murieta Trail Stewardship for the successful launch of the Rancho Murieta Pump Track. They had their official grand opening celebration last Saturday June 20 from 9 am to 1 pm. Mark Pecotich commented that it was awesome to see the all kids riding the track, smiling and having fun. There were hundreds of people of all age groups in attendance at the grand opening, many of which signed up as users of the pump track. Many more are signing-up since the event. Auburn Bike Park – Location Update

All probably seems very quiet lately, but we've been busy at work for the Auburn Bike Park! We've been pursuing grants, planning our next fundraiser (see Food Truck event for details), and importantly, working with ARD and other stakeholders to nail down the location of the bike park. As you may recall, we've telling our supporters that the Auburn Bike Park will be a two-phase project, with Phase I as the "pump track" and Phase II adding in dirt jumps and features for more advanced riders. Auburn Bike Park – Location Update

A lot has transpired regarding the bike park location in the past couple of months. Earlier this week, the Bike Park Committee met with ARD’s Acquisition and Development Committee (Directors Gray and Ainsleigh are on that committee). The meeting also included the 49er Soccer folks. We all presented our case for using Railhead Park for our needs. As you’ll recall up until this point, there was plenty of room for both the bike park and soccer expansion. There are some important items coming before both the ARD Acquisition and Development Committee (A&D) and the Board of Directors in the month of May. As you know we have been working on a way to best utilize the space at Railhead Park. These considerations include rotating the existing soccer fields thereby allowing for the creation of four fields, and adding a bicycle pump track. Truckee Bike Park Project – Pump Track Now Open!

Great news! Phase one of the Truckee Bike Park Project, the Pump Track, is complete and open for riding. In less than one year, Truckee agencies, local residents and businesses, and IMBA have built an excellent pump track at Riverview Sports Park in Truckee.
