Auburn Bike Park Debate Heats Up – Equestrians Still Fighting

Our little community park is getting a lot of attention thanks to some neighbors and several equestrians who continue to try to kill the project. Equestrians are mobilizing against the bike park, as on can see from the Facebook post below by ACE – Action Coalition for Equestrians. Why would they try to stop the bike park on a property that ARD manages and has every right to develop for the benefit of kids and families of Auburn? Because they simply don’t want to share a little corner of ARD property with kids and families. What's next for the bike park? The environmental reports have been completed and will be open for

All probably seems very quiet lately, but we've been busy at work for the Auburn Bike Park! We've been pursuing grants, planning our next fundraiser (see Food Truck event for details), and importantly, working with ARD and other stakeholders to nail down the location of the bike park. As you may recall, we've telling our supporters that the Auburn Bike Park will be a two-phase project, with Phase I as the "pump track" and Phase II adding in dirt jumps and features for more advanced riders. A lot has transpired regarding the bike park location in the past couple of months. Earlier this week, the Bike Park Committee met with ARD’s Acquisition and Development Committee (Directors Gray and Ainsleigh are on that committee). The meeting also included the 49er Soccer folks. Unfortunately, just a few days before the A&D meeting, we got bad news from Union Pacific (UP). UP will

These considerations include rotating the existing soccer fields thereby allowing for the creation of four fields, and adding a bicycle pump track. We believe we have a reasonable design that will work to accomplish both of these goals. We realize that there have been concerns about mixed uses at Railhead Park. We feel the best
