It’s been a while since our last update but things are humming along nicely for the Auburn Bike Park! Our project sponsor – Auburn Recreation District (ARD) – is wrapping up the required environmental reviews for the project. Once done, these will go out for public comment (likely this May 2015) and a final vote soon follows in late June. Once finalized, we expect to be able to break ground possibly as early as this fall! We’ll keep everyone posted on the public comment and ARD Board meeting, because we’ll need your voice of support to make this finally happen!
Check out the latest design for the park here. It may be hard to see, but everything’s there: strider and pump tracks, flow trails, and dirt jumps! We’re also working on not just one—but TWO—new trails for multi-users (hikers, runners, equestrians, etc.). These trails will be along the edge of the bike park, and below in Auburn SRA, to address concerns raised by a few equestrians. It’s a WIN-WIN for everyone!
Fun Events Coming Up!
We’ve got a couple of fun events to continue our fundraising efforts:
Food Truck Fiesta
The popular Food Truck Fiesta returns on Friday, August 21st at 5:00 p.m. at Recreation Park in Auburn.
Thanks to your help, we’ve been able to raise $30,000 for the park. With these events, and some matching funding from ARD, we’re getting closer to our goal of $150,000 (cash and in-kind). We’re collecting donations of cash or in-kind anytime or you can contact us here.
